Position Summary:

  • BioFire Defense, LLC, is currently seeking an intern with knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry or molecular biology. This position is part of a team working on a variety of laboratory procedures involving real-time PCR using established methods and techniques under general guidance. This person works closely with lab manager and/or research associates in a laboratory setting. Performs general lab duties, conducts experiments, collects and analyzes data and keeps an accurate record of all work done. Requires some problem solving skills. Uses training, problem-solving skills, communications, and company and department SOPs/WIDs in a team environment to develop solutions for assigned projects. Performs all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioFire Defense’s Quality System.

Training and Education:

  • This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with 1-4 years of college. Applicants must be working towards a BS or MS degree in a scientific field. Prefer candidate with some related experience. Experience with basic laboratory technician practices (pipetting, materials handling, and contamination control) and basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word and some knowledge of statistics or data analysis are a plus.

Experience:

  • Be able to safely lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds,
  • Any experience working in a lab setting with the focus of contamination prevention and GLP. Good pipetting and record keeping skills.
