Job Description / Duties:

 

BioFire Defense is seeking a Research Associate III to join our team! This position is part of a team working on a variety of laboratory procedures involving real-time PCR using established methods and techniques under general guidance. Performs general lab duties, designs and conducts experiments, collects and analyzes data and keeps an accurate record of all work done in the laboratory notebook. Requires some problem solving skills.  Work may involve development of new instrumentation, software or processes, customer support, and some training functions.  Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures including PCR, RT-PCR, real-time PCR, and use of fluorescence-based nucleic acid detection techniques.  May lead and direct work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.  May provide guidance to other lower level personnel.

 

Skills/Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor or Master’s degree in a related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience, preferably in a clinical or industry setting. Experience and proficiency in molecular techniques, including real-time PCR and sequence analysis. Excellent experimental design, data analysis, critical thinking, and trouble-shooting skills. Demonstrated ability to compile complex data into clear, focused scientific reports or presentations. Strong organizational and communication (oral and written) skills. The ability and desire to work proactively and collaboratively in a team.
